Our Mission
The Advocacy Special Interest Group (SIG) is composed of individuals interested in the many aspects of library advocacy.
Meetings throughout the year cover a wide range of library advocacy topics and offer important opportunities for networking and information sharing. The SIG also provides professional development opportunities through group discussion, and presentations by group members, library advocates and others.

Jason Kramer is the Executive Director of NYSHEI, the New York State Higher Education Initiative. It is Jason job’s to represent NYSHEI member libraries in Albany, and coordinate efforts among the members, advocating on behalf of the New York’s libraries. As legislators come and go, Jason remains, building positive relationships for libraries, meeting and educating new members, influencing and advocating. Come to our next SIG meeting at METRO and learn something from an expert. Librarians from academic, public and special libraries will gain valuable advocacy tips from this session.
