Introduction

The Distance Education Special Interest Group (SIG) is composed of individuals interested in different aspects of distance education. Meetings throughout the year cover a range of distance education topics, such as marketing services to faculty members and students, providing effective bibliographic instruction, and developing appropriate collections for the DE community. The SIG also provides professional development opportunities through group discussion, and presentations by group members, vendors and others. Topics targeted for future meetings include free software useful for distance education librarians, and establishing effective liaison with distance education faculty members.

Upcoming Meetings

  • Monday, Mar 12, 2012: Marketing the Library to the Distance Education Community
Frequently, the online academic library is one of the DE Community's most overlooked and under-utilized resources. This presentation will discuss how to reach your user community and engage them to use and advocate for the Online Library.
